John Covert established Covert Homes in 2003.

A Columbia native with over 15 years in the construction industry and almost a decade in new home construction, John builds custom homes throughout the Midlands, either on individually owned land or in up and coming new home communities. John has built over 100 homes throughout Richland and Lexington counties.

In addition to his work with Covert Homes, John is heavily involved in the betterment of the home building business community. He is a member of the National Association of Home Builders, the South Carolina Home Builders Association, and the Home Builders Association of Greater Columbia, where he has served as a Board of Directors Builder Member for the last three years and was recently elected to the Executive Board as the 2011 Secretary. His work within the industry includes involvement in proposed legislation, building codes, the local government, and other issues facing the home building industry.

John is an active member of C–Core, a mentoring program facilitated by the Home Builder Institute, which reaches local youth with an interest in the home industry. In 2009 the local Sales and Marketing Council awarded John a Regal Award as Builder Executive of the Year.

John and his wife Tami are both involved as directors of “Salkehatchie Summer Service” a church mission sponsored by the United Methodist Church of South Carolina The mission provides for free home repairs to families living in poverty all across the state of South Carolina.
